OpSec
OpSec is shorthand for Operational Security.
It is a set of behavioural principles that are designed to keep you and your data safe.
What to do?
This is a very brief list.
0. Security is a process, not a product. Nothing is ever 100% safe.
- Keep your software up to date.
- Use strong and different passwords.
- Always have a pair of eyes on your hardware (it does not have to be your pair!).
- Lock your screen when you leave your computer/phone.
- Make sure to use encrypted connections (watch out for the “https:” in the address bar.
- Encrypt your hard disk.
- Don't open links or attachments from emails.
CIA
- Confidentiality,
- Integrity, and
- Availability
are three things you might want to have, and which are achieved through e.g. encrypting messages, signing messages, and using services without a single point of failure.
