“Encryption not allowed”, with Mustafa Al-Bassam (@musalbas) and Jake Davis (@DoubleJake).
Mustafa and Jake were legally banned from using encryption on their computers, and were required to email the police every time they purchased a new computer, due to a “Serious Crime Prevention Order” lasting 5 years. They will discuss the experience, and their interactions with the police during these 5 years.
9.00pm: Film screening
“Mind Reading Algorithms are stealing our democracy!”, film screening (approx 10mins) with director Adem Ay (@barkbat, @fatratfilms).
Political advertising has got smarter. But have we? A quirky drama-documentary, combining expert interviews with a good old-fashioned alien invasion melodrama, introduces us to some of the amazing techniques being employed by advertisers, explains how data from social media is fuelling them.

What is a CryptoParty?
CryptoParties are free and open for everyone, but especially those without prior knowledge, who haven't yet attended one.
CryptoParty is a decentralized movement with events happening all over the world. The goal is to pass on knowledge about protecting yourself in the digital space. This can include encrypted communication, preventing being tracked while browsing the web and general security advice for computers and smartphones.
